The Tamil film industry has been facing severe challenges in recent times. Tamil cinema has been grappling with disappointing box office results for recent releases. Aranmanai -4 is the only minor relief. Producers who release small films are facing a major challenge as their satellite and digital rights are not being sold.
In an effort to address these financial challenges, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has decided to temporarily halt the production of new films. The decision has been made to bring clarity and precision to issues such as star salaries, director salaries, film budget control, and satellite and digital rights sales. According to reports, new films will not be started until a clear and comprehensive decision is reached on these matters.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Film Producers Council has agreed to allow the completion of filming for films that have already begun shooting. The TFPC maintains that this is not a strike, but rather a set of decisions aimed at stabilizing the industry. The association also believes that releasing films starring Rajinikanth and Vijay during this hiatus will be sufficient to keep the cinema business afloat.
